In case you missed it! How to Photograph Your Art Using Your Smartphone

At our member meeting last Wednesday, Jill Rumley (Board Member & our newsletter & website & social media editor) demonstrated how to photograph your artwork using your smartphone!  She demonstrated the use of a tripod, smartphone adaptor (to connect to the tripod) lighting and editing techniques using a free app called SnapSeed.

Here is the before and after photos showing how she set the artwork on a chair, and then the finished photograph edited right on her phone! (Thanks to Catharina Van Haaren for the use of her beautiful painting!)

Click here to download some tips on how to do this in your own home!

Critique-O-Rama March 9th

Where:  Deviant Spirits
Time:  7:00 PM9:00 PM
Cost:  Free
More Information:  Website

This group is for visual artists who want to evolve in their work through structured and honest group critiques.

One of the most valuable things I learned in art school was not only how to critique, but how to be critiqued. It can be uncomfortable and challenging when work you have poured your heart and soul isn’t as breathtaking for others as it is for you. As artists, we will come together monthly to chat briefly about galleries, marketing, social media, etc.

If you want to learn more about composition, medium and marketability, come listen to a group critique. If you want to learn valuable lessons about how to speak your mind in a respectful way, come to a critique. If you’d like to hear what a random sampling of artists REALLY thinks when they see your work, come to a critique.

If you’d like to critique, you need to participate by bringing something to show. We will do a brief intro and then I’ll outline the structure for critiquing. It should be fun! I’m so excited to see everyone’s work!

Please email me with questions. Thanks!

Great Fun at the LAG Watercolor Workshop!

Everyone loved our October 29th LAG workshop with Anita Jantz.  Students learned some amazing techniques and tricks on how to use frisket, pour, and paint with watercolor. We learned a lot, had lots of fun, and went home with beautiful pieces!
