Arts – Adult Programs
Please join us for a sunrise paint session at the Agricultural Heritage Center. We will open up the center early so that artists can capture the rising sun. Bring along your spirit of adventure, your own art supplies in the medium of your choice and a chair if you’d like. Artists can create work to submit for consideration to the 2018 Outdoor Creations exhibit. Children under 18 years of age are welcome to attend with adult supervision.

Please join us for an evening paint session with local artist, Lydia Pottoff, at Hall Ranch. This event will involve a moderate hike. Bring along your spirit of adventure, your own art supplies in the medium of your choice and a chair if you’d like. Long sleeves, pants, sunscreen, insect protection, water and closed toed shoes are recommended. En plein air artists can create work to submit for consideration to the 2018 Outdoor Creations exhibit. Children under 18 years of age are welcome to attend with adult supervision.

Includes digital photography, watercolors/acrylics, pencil, ink, incorporating text and mixed media work with options for plein air painting and comfort of a group activity room (floor to ceiling vista views). For 7 days/6 nights you can relax, enjoy, and create. Lodging and meals included at Ghost Ranch property. T

Cliff DeJong will teach a beginning photography class on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at his home in NE Longmont from 9-12N. Basics of camera settings will be covered, along with composition and simple processing of JPGs and RAW files. If you have been looking for a way to expand your art experience, these are the workshops for you!
There are two art sessions. The cost of each workshop is $72 for 2 art sessions and paper. We will be using oil pastels to explore our creativity. You can bring your own box of oil pastels or purchase a box for $7 from Suzanne at the beginning of the workshop. At the end of the day you will have completed at least two oil pastel drawings and will have had the opportunity to explore your personal creativity.
Here’s the schedule:
First Saturday of the Month: Get To Know an Artist or Artist Group
Each month we will look at an artist or a group of Artists to explore their style, color choices and perspective to inspire your creativity.
Second Saturday of the Month: Color Theory for Artists
First we will look at Color Theory, then move on to understand the three groups of complimentary colors and finish up getting to know how to use black/white/gray.
Third Saturday of the Month: Saturday Art Workshop
Each month we will look at different ways to express yourself through composition, color theory and other topics to enhance your personal expression.

1. Colored pencils (or I have some to loan if needed). The recommended brand is Prismacolor, but other brands are fine. Michael’s and Hobby Lobby carry Prismacolors and many others brands. You only need a small set with the basic colors to start with.
2. I will have fresh flowers to work from, You can bring a reference photo or your own flowers If you prefer.
3. A camera/cell phone camera to take photos of the still-life in case you need to finish at home.
4. Your lunch/snack and water bottle. We will take a 30 min. break for lunch.

In this six week class you’ll learn the building blocks to create a successful landscape painting In pastels. We’ll explore the fundamentals of value and composition as well as surfaces, layering techniques and stroke making. We’ll also look at how to work with your own photos to strengthen and manipulate them in order to make a better composition. Discover the pure exhilaration of pastel painting!
