November President’s Message

As Thanksgiving approaches, we reflect on what we are thankful for.  Family and friends are usually on top, followed closely by health and prosperity.
My list also includes our LAG Board members who are so dedicated in keeping our guild running smoothly. It is hard to calculate all the volunteer hours the Board puts in however these hours have led to numerous accomplishments. LAG has a bigger and better newsletter, outstanding website and strong social media all thanks to the many, many hours Jill Rumley has devoted to our guild.  Thanks to our hard-working Board, LAG has more opportunities than ever to exhibit such as the Boulder County Fair show, the Strawberry Days, and the Longmont ArtWalk. Along with our monthly meeting guest artists the Board has added the mini shows (now called “Inspirations”), fun hands-on activities, and art swaps.
These are just a few of the things LAG has benefited from over the last couple of years thanks to our Board’s innovative ideas, time, and energy. As I reflect on what I am thankful for this Thanksgiving, I am definitely adding our wonderful LAG Board!

P.S. (from the LAG Board…) And we are so thankful for all of the behind-the-scenes hard work our President Susan puts in!

Born in 1973 in Seattle, Washington. The youngest in a family of 5. He grew up in the shadow of others with a doodling obsession and an imagination daily fueled. At the early age of 18 he recognized his calling to be a ‘communicator’ – be it through his pen, his drawing or his voice. With this he set out to use his talent and give what he had to the world. Today he continues to create stories, tell stories and bring them to life through illustration. Touching hearts, stirring hearts and challenging the status quo of thought and action.

He’s married and has three children. They travel extensively and seem to find adventure at every turn. Still fueling the imagination …and that of his kids.

In Case You Missed it! We had a great member meeting in April!

This month’s meeting included an Artist Social (Zentangle & Doodle demo with Lynn Diagnault), an Art Swap (with great stuff!) and our Mini-Art show.

Congrats to Toby Myers the favorite art piece of our Mini-Art show!

Have you ever been in a room with over 30 people and have complete silence? This was the wonderful experience we had during our Zentangle & Doodle demonstration with Lynn Diagnault at our April member meeting.  Lynn discussed the history of the zentangle. To sum it up, a Zentangle is an easy to learn method of creating beautiful images from repetitive patterns. It is a fascinating new art form that is fun and relaxing. It increases focus and creativity. Zentangle provides artistic satisfaction and an increased sense of personal well being. Check out the slide show below for the results of this zentangley-doodle experience from our wonder artist members!
